Is Nestron Cube The Ultimate Modular Tiny Home? (Interview)
Have you ever dreamed of living in a futuristic smart house that can do everything for you? Well, I recently had the opportunity to interview the folks behind Nestron, a Singapore-based company that specialises in creating fully integrated prefabricated smart houses that are designed to make your life easier and more comfortable.
It's hard not to love how Nestron design their smart homes. The level of technology and innovation that goes into creating their tiny houses, or prefabs, modular pods or cubes (whatever you call them!) is mind blowing.
It'd be easy to just say Nestron design luxury tiny homes - but you get way more than just luxury.
Their smart homes (especially the Cube series) are equipped with state-of-the-art technology that allows them to respond to your questions and commands in real-time.
Nestron create tiny living spaces designed to be fully integrated, meaning that everything from the lighting to the security system is connected and controlled from a single device. Furniture is mostly also built-in (dining table etc).
It's nice to see modern technology incorporated into house design. I could hardly wait to share my experience with the world, so here's the interview...
Where did the amazing idea for Nestron Prefabs come from?
Nestron was founded based on the idea of creating eco-friendly, portable housing solutions that address housing challenges and revolutionise traditional housing models.
We aim to address various needs like:
- Disaster relief housing solutions
- Disabled and elderly homes
- Homestay like Airbnb
- Generating passive income asset
(Also potentially for tourism, medical hub / emergency centre, homestay, etc).
What types of modular tiny homes do you specialise in?
We specialise in a range of modular tiny homes crafted from durable materials for a safe and secure living environment. Our homes feature high-quality insulation for comfort and reduced energy use.
We incorporate eco-friendly materials and features, such as solar panels, to promote sustainability.
Additionally, our designs are built to withstand the test of time, minimising upkeep. We take pride in providing stylish finishes and fixtures for a (natural light filled) comfortable living space.
What is the pricing structure? How much will a Nestron tiny home cost?
Our houses are typically priced below $100,000. However, the final cost may vary depending on customisations or optional add-ons, like a smart mirror or toilet.
What is your process for customising modular homes?
Depending on availability and possibilities. Any agreed terms in customisation must be made through signing our Order Request Form with the sales associate assigned to you by Nestron before proceeding.
For any heavy customisation, a redesign and engineering fee will be charged (approximately US30,000) for your customised plan. The manufacturing fee depends on your customised plan.
Do you offer any warranties or guarantees on your smart homes?
We provide a warranty for our modular homes in compliance with local laws regarding the unit's structure. Additionally, we offer worldwide shipping to ensure that our customers have access to our products no matter where they are located.
How do you handle transportation and installation of modular tiny homes?
For transportation, we send it by cargo to the nearest port. On the clients end, they will have to prepare a flat-rack truck, crane and a contractor to transport the houses to their destination. The contractor will install the plumbing and electrical system.
What is your approach to customer service and support?
Our approach to customer service and support is proactive and dedicated. Our sales consultants are committed to providing exceptional service. They will diligently follow up with clients through various means to ensure their needs are met and questions are addressed.
We prioritise open communication and a client-centric approach to deliver the best possible support.
What sets your modular home apart from your competitors?
What sets Nestron's houses apart is their completeness. Similar to a car rolling off the assembly line ready to hit the road, our goal is to integrate all essential living amenities during the production process.
This eliminates the need for additional onsite construction, providing a ready-to-live solution that stands out in the market.
Can you step me through the design and construction process?
Due to the sensitive and proprietary nature of our design and construction process, we are unable to release any specific information regarding these aspects at this time. We prioritise the protection of our intellectual property.
What is the estimated timeline for completing a modular tiny home project? (or receiving my Cube 2 X if I order it today)
The delivery time for your unit depends on the destination. Under normal circumstances, the delivery should be within 90-120 days.
So there you go. Now you can join the tiny house movement with a sweet, architectural designed Nestron smart house / pad! (Note: In square footage the Cube 2 X is 398 SQ FT, or 37 m2).
As the Nestron smart homes are built in their factory, there's no need to use tiny home builders. You will however, need to transport it, and prepare the site for delivery.
